Interview with Doris Seedorf, CEO of Sofftek.
- Could you give us a brief summary of the company?
Softtek is a global technology company with over 40 years of experience helping businesses transform and accelerate their digitalization. Founded in 1982 in Monterrey, Mexico, we are now present in over 20 countries, offering innovative solutions in software development, cloud services, intelligent automation, and cybersecurity, among others.
What sets us apart is our ability to provide proximity and efficiency through the Nearshore model, an approach we introduced in 1997 that allows companies to access specialized tech talent in nearby locations, optimizing costs and time without compromising quality.
Our goal is clear: to turn technology into a strategic engine for businesses, helping them grow and adapt to an ever-evolving digital environment. In Spain, we’ve been consolidating our presence for almost 20 years, supporting major companies in their digital transformation.
- What are the company’s business lines?
At Softtek, we specialize in helping businesses leverage technology to be more efficient, innovative, and competitive. Our work focuses on several key areas that cover the entire digital transformation process, from software development to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Let me explain each of them.
Today, software is the engine of any business, and at Softtek, we ensure our solutions are not only efficient but also evolve with the needs of each company. We design and develop custom applications, optimize legacy systems to align them with new technological standards, and apply agile methodologies to ensure speed and flexibility in each project. Additionally, we work on quality assurance and testing to ensure applications are secure and stable from day one.
The cloud has completely changed the way companies operate. That’s why we help our clients migrate to the cloud, optimize their infrastructures, and efficiently manage multicloud environments. We also implement DevOps strategies so that development and operations teams can work together more agilely, reducing time and automating deployments. Ultimately, we help companies make the most of the flexibility and scalability the cloud offers.
On the other hand, data is now more valuable than ever for any company, but without a clear strategy, it can become a challenge rather than an advantage. At Softtek, we help structure, process, and analyze data so companies can make better decisions. We also implement artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to automate processes, detect patterns, and improve operational efficiency. Furthermore, we ensure the quality and security of the data, which is critical in sectors like banking, healthcare, or retail.
Additionally, in a digitalized world, security is an absolute priority. Cyber threats evolve rapidly, and we work to stay ahead of them. We protect infrastructures, data, and applications through cloud security solutions, identity and access management, and real-time incident detection and response. We also conduct audits and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. Our approach is clear: we help companies operate with full confidence in a secure digital environment.
Many companies waste time and resources on repetitive tasks that can be automated. At Softtek, we use RPA and other intelligent automation technologies to optimize processes in sectors like banking, retail, and logistics. This allows companies to reduce costs, minimize errors, and focus on strategic tasks rather than manual operations.
Lastly, we know that user experience is key to differentiating oneself. Therefore, we design platforms and applications with intuitive and attractive interfaces, ensuring that every customer interaction is smooth and satisfactory. We also work on omnichannel strategies so businesses can communicate with their customers consistently across all channels, from social media to e-commerce. We even implement AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants to improve customer service efficiently.
- In what year did you arrive in Spain and how have you positioned yourselves in the Madrid’s Region?
Softtek arrived in Spain in 2004, when we opened our first Global Delivery Center in A Coruña. Since then, we have grown steadily, expanding to several cities across the country and strengthening our capabilities, especially after the acquisition of Vector ITC in 2019, a Spanish company with extensive experience in digital transformation.
The Madrid’s Region has been a key point in our growth. It’s not only the country’s financial and technological center, but also an environment full of innovation and talent. Establishing ourselves here has allowed us to be close to our clients and strategic partners, supporting companies in sectors such as banking, insurance, retail, and telecommunications in their digitalization process.
Our strategy has always been clear: combine the knowledge and proximity of local talent with our global experience to offer innovative technological solutions tailored to the Spanish market. The Community of Madrid has provided us with the ideal ecosystem to continue driving the digital growth of businesses and adding value to every project.
- How is your market in Spain, does it present opportunities or barriers?
Spain is a country with enormous potential for digital transformation. In recent years, we’ve seen key sectors such as banking, industry, retail, and healthcare accelerate their commitment to technology, making it a strategic factor for improving efficiency, security, and customer experience.
Large companies are in a continuous process of modernization, adapting to new regulations, integrating AI-based solutions, and optimizing their operations with cloud environments and automation. However, the challenge is not only to implement technology but to do so effectively, aligning digital solutions with business strategy.
- Why did you choose the Madrid’s Region as one of your key points?
The Madrid’s Region is the epicenter of innovation and business in Spain. Its dynamism, connectivity to other markets, and ability to attract tech talent make it one of the best locations for companies like ours.
Furthermore, the Madrid’s Region has strongly invested in digital transformation, both at the institutional and business levels. There’s a powerful innovation ecosystem with startups, large companies, and research centers working together to drive new technological solutions. This allows us not only to collaborate with national clients but also to manage international projects from the capital, strengthening our presence across Europe.
In short, the Madrid’s Region is an environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and innovation—values that are fully aligned with our vision as a company.
- How many jobs do you expect to generate in the Madrid’s Region in the short and medium term, and what types of profiles do you need?
Our growth in Madrid continues to expand, and with that, the need to incorporate new talent. We’re looking for specialized profiles in technologies such as software development, data engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital consulting.
Additionally, beyond technical knowledge, we highly value innovation capacity, teamwork, and the desire to grow professionally in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment. We want to continue adding talent that will help us make Softtek a reference in the digital transformation of businesses in Spain.
- What would you recommend to other foreign investors thinking about opening their business in the Madrid’s Region?
The Madrid’s Region offers an unbeatable environment for tech companies. It has a growing market, top-tier infrastructure, and a very active innovation ecosystem.
Our advice to any foreign investor is to take advantage of available resources, such as the support programs from Invest In Madrid, and to seek strategic alliances with local players to facilitate their integration into the market.
In the Madrid’s Region, there’s a large community of highly qualified professionals, and fostering the development of specialized teams is one of the best investments any company can make.
