Díaz Ayuso announces new grants of up to €150,000—pioneering in Spain—to support the growth of micro-enterprises and self-employed workers

The President of the Madrid Region, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has announced new grants—pioneering in Spain—to support the growth of micro-enterprises and self-employed workers

Díaz Ayuso revealed details of this initiative during a business meeting held in New York together with the Spain–US Chamber of Commerce, where she explained that the grants could reach up to €150,000.

“We want to support those companies that are already performing well and wish to continue growing by providing direct funding for their most promising projects,” explained the head of the regional government. She also announced that the Government Council this Wednesday will approve grants of up to €140,000, which may be increased by an additional €10,000 if the beneficiary carries out its activity in a municipality with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants—142 such municipalities exist in the region.

The aid will benefit companies with a maximum of nine employees and at least three years of existence. These businesses will be required to submit a detailed business plan for their expansion, with the programme covering up to 50% of the required investment. In this way, the initiative aims to help them continue generating wealth and creating jobs.

The objective is to strengthen these businesses so they can overcome the consolidation stage, when obstacles often arise such as limited access to financing to expand or digitalise, difficulties in attracting or retaining specialised talent, or the need to adapt the business to market changes.

The Madrid Region is strengthening its position as a favourable environment for entrepreneurship, as reflected by the number of self-employed workers recorded in February, which reached a total of 439,678 people—the third highest figure in the entire historical series and the highest ever recorded for that month.
