The President of the Madrid Region, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has encouraged Mexican investors to “continue strengthening relations,” at a time when, despite the international context being “very difficult,” the region is “forging ahead” thanks to respect for individual freedom and private sector decisions, and serves as a gateway to 450 million consumers in the European Union.
“Today we are the leading economy in Spain. We were not decades ago, and we attract more than 60% of investment,” stated the head of the regional government in the state of Aguascalientes, before business representatives and investment promoters from Mexico’s Central-West economic region. She also told them that Madrid’s economy is expected to grow by nearly 20% above pre-pandemic levels by 2027. In her view, this prosperity “translates into major cultural and sporting events, as well as the attraction of talent from all corners.”
Díaz Ayuso outlined to Mexican business leaders several projects from the Madrid regional government, such as the Plan Vive for affordable rental housing; the urban developments of Madrid Nuevo Norte and the southeast area to build more than 200,000 homes; the 40-40 Plan with 80 new care homes and day centers; the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, which will arrive this September “in service of all of Spain”; and the renovation of the Vallecas Stadium, among others.
