Díaz Ayuso inaugurates two new Data Processing Centers in Alcobendas: “Madrid is the place where everyone wants to be”

The President of the Madrid Region, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has inaugurated two new Data Processing Centers (DPCs) in Alcobendas belonging to the technology company Equinix.

“Madrid is once again proving to be the place where everyone wants to be, and where digitalization serves both businesses and people,” stressed the head of the regional government, recalling the meeting she held last year in New York with executives from the U.S. company, during which a new investment commitment of €460 million in the region was secured.

As Díaz Ayuso highlighted, the Madrid Region is the “technology hub of Southern Europe,” leading the deployment of DPCs in Spain, with 40 currently in operation, 15 under construction, and an investment pipeline for the coming years involving more than 40 additional facilities that together will exceed 3,100 megawatts of power capacity. “Our government is aware that data is now as strategic as highways, ports, or energy once were,” she added.

“The Madrid Region is ready to become a driving force in Europe’s digital era,” stated the regional president, who also warned of the need “not to become complacent or overregulated,” so as not to “hold back talent, expertise, and innovation,” she concluded.
