According to data from the regional government, Mexico is, after the United States, the leading American investor in the Madrid Region, accounting for 98% of total investment directed to Spain, with an investment exceeding €1 billion in 2025.
During her stay, which will last ten days, the president will carry out an official agenda in Mexico City, Monterrey, Aguascalientes, and Xcaret Riviera Maya. Planned events include four meetings with Mexican business leaders, economic organizations, and investors, as well as meetings with international companies such as CEMEX and Alsea.
On the institutional front, Díaz Ayuso will receive the Medal of Freedom from the Congress of Aguascalientes in a formal session. In addition, the City Council will present her with the Keys to the City and an award in recognition of her defense of Hispanic heritage. She will also attend a luncheon with the governors of the states of Aguascalientes, Querétaro, Chihuahua, and Guanajuato, as well as a meeting with the mayor of Cuauhtémoc.
The agenda also includes academic events with students and the educational community of the University of Liberty and the Monterrey Institute of Technology. In Aguascalientes, she will take part in Madrid Day at the San Marcos National Fair, where the Community of Madrid is the guest of honor.
Other engagements include attending an event in honor of Hernán Cortés at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico, حضور at the Platinum Awards gala in Riviera Maya, a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and a meeting with representatives of the 14 regional Spanish associations in Mexico.
This trip, which will take place from May 3 to 12, is the second institutional visit Díaz Ayuso has made to Mexico, following the one in April 2024. It is also her third international trip in 2026, after visits to New York and Brussels.
