The region has gone from 145 MW of installed capacity in 2023 to 1,105 MW targeted by 2030, already concentrating 54.8% of national supply. Global hyperscalers have made the Iberian Peninsula one of their priority deployment axes in Southern Europe. Behind them, a whole ecosystem of subcontractors, integrators and service providers is taking shape.
Recent investment decisions give a sense of the scale of movement. In August 2025, Digital Realty announced €300 million to build MAD5, its fifth data center in Madrid, in the MadBit technology district. The company already manages 65% of the Iberian Peninsula’s internet traffic from its four Madrid sites, hosting Netflix, Disney and IBM. Three months later, the Echelon Iberdrola joint venture announced a 144 MW campus at Madrid Sur : €2 billion in investment, 160,000 m², 1,500 jobs, 100% renewable energy supply, approved by the European Commission.
What these decisions signal goes beyond infrastructure. Each new campus attracts connectivity providers, cloud integrators, cybersecurity specialists and managed service operators. For a company establishing European operations, proximity to this ecosystem translates into faster deployment, stronger redundancy and access to a talent pool that is growing alongside the market itself.
The Madrid Region attracts 75% of all foreign investment made in Spain. For a company looking to establish itself under the right conditions, timing is starting to matter.
