The celebration of Sports Summit Madrid at IFEMA has highlighted the excellent momentum of the sports ecosystem and the role of the Madrid Region as “the region of sport”.
The sports industry contributes €8.766 billion to Madrid’s economy, positioning this sector as an economic driver and an international showcase for our region.
As part of this major international sporting event, Luis Socías, Managing Director of Invest in Madrid, took part in the GLORIA Awards for Ibero-American Sport. These awards were created with the aim of showcasing talent, commitment and the impact of sport as a tool for social, economic and cultural transformation in Ibero-America, while consolidating the sports industry as a key asset for attracting investment to the Madrid Region.
During the event, which highlighted the recent inauguration of the Formula 1 circuit, known as MADRING, with its 22 corners and 5.4 kilometres, and ready to welcome the single-seater cars on 11 September, the Managing Director of Invest in Madrid presented the award for “Commitment to Inclusion and Diversity in Sport”.
The Madrid Region is strengthening its position as a host region for major sporting events, with a particular focus on sustainability, the creation of opportunities, and the economic and social legacy that these events bring to the region.
