Madrid Investment Forum: Your Next Growth Chapter – UK Forums Spark Strong Interest in Expansion

Earlier this month, Invest in Madrid, in collaboration with How2Go UK and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce successfully hosted two strategic forums in the UK: Birmingham and Manchester

Under the banner “Madrid Investment Forum: Your Next Growth Chapter”. Both events drew strong attendance from UK businesses exploring expansion into Europe and Latin America — and reinforced Madrid’s position as one of the most attractive destinations for international investment in the region.

The forums brought together senior business leaders, legal experts, and trade representatives to explore the opportunities Madrid offers UK companies, particularly in the context of post-Brexit market diversification and global growth strategies.

Madrid: Europe’s Gateway to Global Growth

The core message delivered in both cities was clear: Madrid is not just a Spanish success story — it’s a European and Latin American gateway for forward-thinking businesses.

The Madrid region currently accounts for over 67% of Spain’s total foreign direct investment (FDI) and is home to 15,500+ foreign-owned companies. It offers a unique blend of business-friendly policy, a deep innovation ecosystem, and unrivalled connectivity to markets across Europe, Latin America, and North Africa — reaching over 1 billion consumers.

Attendees at the forums heard from Diego de Aristegui, Investment Director and Pedro Homedes, Investment Manager at Invest in Madrid, who outlined how the region continues to attract global investment by combining political and economic stability, a low-tax environment, and access to top-tier talent across technology, financial services, health, and professional sectors.

From Interest to Action: Practical Advice for UK Firms

Both events focused on giving attendees practical knowledge to begin their expansion journey into Spain and beyond.

Panels and presentations included:

  • A keynote on why Madrid stands out as an FDI destination
  • Real-world guidance on how to establish a subsidiary in Madrid, featuring Fieldfisher Spain partners Rodrigo Martos
  • A spotlight on accounting and regulatory obligations from BookGest Solutions, Fieldfisher’s business outsourcing arm
  • Insights into tax frameworks, labour law, and business structuring to help UK companies plan with confidence

A Q&A session in each city allowed participants to ask tailored questions and explore sector-specific challenges. Both forums concluded with networking sessions over coffee, where UK executives had the opportunity to speak directly with legal experts and the Invest in Madrid team.

A Platform for UK–Madrid Collaboration

The forums also served to underline Invest in Madrid’s role as a long-term partner for UK businesses.

From initial market analysis and location scouting to incorporation, tax planning, and integration into local networks, Invest in Madrid offers a full suite of confidential, cost-free services tailored to international investors. This includes access to:

  • Tax incentives and grants
  • Support in identifying local partners and suppliers
  • Land and office space availability tools
  • Assistance navigating regulatory processes and sector-specific laws
  • R&D opportunities and innovation clusters

The forums highlighted how this one-stop-shop model helps de-risk expansion and accelerate market entry — particularly for SMEs, scaleups, and sector-focused firms in tech, digital, and financial services.

Madrid’s Momentum Continues

With new UK–Spain trade links developing and global businesses increasingly diversifying into stable, innovation-driven markets, Madrid is fast becoming a logical next step for UK firms.

The success of the July forums confirms a clear appetite from British companies to explore opportunities in Spain’s capital region — not only as an access point to the EU, but also as a strategic bridge to Latin America and other emerging markets.
