The Madrid’s región has established itself as a leading region in the data center sector with 35 of these infrastructures in operation and 11 under construction. This was highlighted today by the Regional Minister for Digitalization, Miguel López-Valverde, following a meeting at the Real Casa de Correos, the headquarters of the regional government, with the Senior Vice President of International Operations of the UAE-based company DAMAC Properties, Tarun Tyagi, and its Vice President of Investments and Acquisitions, Ritesh Netha.
“Madrid hosts 54.8% of the total installed capacity in the entire country,” said the minister. López-Valverde also emphasized that this leadership is due to the fact that the regional government “has created a favorable environment for the establishment of data centers, with advanced technological infrastructure, a dynamic business network, and privileged access to European markets.” The Community of Madrid is expected to reach more than 6 billion euros in direct investment in this sector by 2026, positioning it on par with major powerhouses in this field, such as Paris, London, or Frankfurt.
