The Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, visited the site today for this strategic infrastructure project by the British company Apto, which will position the municipality as one of Europe’s most attractive technology hubs.
Albert emphasized the importance of creating a trustworthy environment capable of attracting large-scale projects. “This is proof of our firm commitment to technology and innovation as pillars of economic growth that generate highly skilled employment and wealth for all residents of Madrid,” he stated.
The complex will consist of five data centers to be built on a 195,000 m² site and will create nearly 2,500 jobs. Currently, the Madrid Region is the most important digital hub in Southern Europe, outpacing competitors such as Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin in terms of growth speed.
This strategic investment, supported by the European Union’s InvestEU program, will reclaim a former industrial site and transform it into a sustainable space, reinforcing the regional government’s commitment to the southern axis of the region.
With the launch of this infrastructure, the Madrid Region strengthens its national leadership in digital transformation, adding this project to the 35 data centers already operating in the region, which are key to the competitiveness of its economy.
