More than 180 Entrepreneurs at the First Business Meeting with the Madrid Region to boost Leganés as an Investment Hub

At Invest in Madrid, we have designed very important activities for Leganés, which will be carried out soon to attract investment and help entrepreneurs, especially small ones.

The Leganés City Council organized today, Monday, September 23, the “First Business Meeting: Industry and Investment in Leganés,” with the collaboration of the Community of Madrid, Invest in Madrid, and the Business Union of Leganés (UNELE). During the event, which was attended by more than 180 local businesspeople, speeches were made by the Mayor of Leganés, Miguel Ángel Recuenco; the Director General of Economic and Industrial Promotion of the Community of Madrid, Jaime Martínez; the General Director of Invest in Madrid, Luis Socías; and the Councilor for Local Development and Employment, José Marín. They focused on promoting industry, business development, and attracting investments in Leganés.

The town is the fourth largest in the region by population, and according to the Statistics Institute of the Community of Madrid, it is the sixth municipality in the number of productive units in the region, following the capital, Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Pozuelo, and Fuenlabrada.

The purpose of this first meeting was to position Leganés as an industrial and investment center, showcasing the strategic advantages of the municipality, including its infrastructure, connectivity, and institutional support, to attract new investors and businesses. The focus was placed on strengthening the local business fabric, fostering networking between businesspeople, business representatives, and authorities, creating synergies to boost growth, job creation, and facilitate new business opportunities.

Increase in Staff for Urban Planning and Industry

During the event, the mayor announced the addition of three architects, three legal experts, three building inspectors, and three industrial technicians to the Urban Planning and Industry Department, with the aim of speeding up the processing of permits.

Moreover, within the legislation allowed by the Community of Madrid, the City Council will begin applying the responsible declaration, which until now had not been used in this municipality, to streamline the processing for new companies.

Aid Line for Industrial Estates

Additionally, the Director General of Economic and Industrial Promotion of the Community of Madrid, Jaime Martínez, highlighted that “Leganés is a privileged city in terms of location and as a communications hub, and it has a highly proactive municipal government.”

For this reason, investment will be made in the structural improvement of the town’s industrial estates with an aid line covering up to 50 percent.

Initiatives to Help Small Entrepreneurs

The General Director of Invest in Madrid, Luis Socías, stated that “Leganés will become the center of investment attraction in the southern part of the Community of Madrid. Its location is privileged, and this is something we must take advantage of. At Invest in Madrid, we have designed very important activities for Leganés, which will be carried out soon to attract investment and help entrepreneurs, especially small ones.”

Leganés to Join the Regional Investment Accelerator

Meanwhile, the Councilor for Local Development and Employment, José Marín, explained that the Leganés City Council is working to strengthen the business fabric, attract talent, and enhance competitiveness by supporting job creation and innovation. For this reason, they are committed to policies that do not hinder business development and to promoting a favorable environment for investment and entrepreneurship that will lead to job creation.

He also announced that they are finalizing an agreement with the General Directorate of Economy for Leganés to join the Investment Accelerator of the Community of Madrid. This means that investments that generate more than 50 jobs or whose non-real estate investment exceeds ten million euros, or projects with added value, will be considered a priority, and the regular processing times will be significantly reduced so that they can start their activities as soon as possible.
