Spain is the second-largest global destination for Latin American foreign investments, surpassed only by the United States

The Madrid Region is a gateway to Europe, with networking networks, sector-specific events, and public promotion that provide visibility and reputation

Global Report Latam 2025, now in its seventh edition and produced jointly by the Analysis Department of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Trade and the Ibero-American General Secretariat, has confirmed that Spain is the second global destination for Latin American foreign investments, surpassed only by the United States. Mexico has established itself as the main investor country, leading both in investment volume and project diversification.

During 2024, Mexico remained among the top three destinations for Spanish Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), ranking behind only the United States and the United Kingdom. The amount reached €3.025 billion, marking a 69% increase compared to 2023. These figures reflect a strong economic relationship between the two countries. The main sectors of investment are digitalization, R&D+i (Research, Development and Innovation), and innovation. Cumulative Mexican investment totals €33.9 billion (50.2% of the overall figure), making it the leading middle-income country in terms of investment in Spain, well ahead of any other emerging nation.

Institutions such as the Embassy of Mexico, Casa de México, and the Economic and Commercial Office in Madrid promote meetings and synergies between both countries. Additionally, bilateral forums organized by the Madrid Region, Madrid Network, AEMEES, and the Embassy share successful investment experiences in sectors such as automotive, wine, technology, hospitality, and energy.

Investment firms such as Finaccess, Alterna Inversiones, and Creuza Capital have opened offices in Madrid to grow Mexican companies across the European continent. The Madrid Region attracts private banks and Mexican funds thanks to its financial infrastructure and quality of life. Legal, tax, and residency environments (visas/double taxation) are also being managed to facilitate Mexican investment in Spain.

The Madrid Region represents a true investment ecosystem. Madrid serves as a gateway to Europe, offering networking opportunities, sectoral events, and public promotion. It provides visibility and reputationestablishing a presence in Madrid adds prestige and eases the creation of alliances with the rest of the country and other European markets.
