Madrid, the ecosystem for innovation and talent. This is the title of the first Madrid Investor Lab, which brought together representatives from the world of start-ups, academic institutions, government and business in the Madrid Region. Talent was the topic of discussion at this first edition. What does an ecosystem need to promote and retain talent? What initiatives are being carried out by the education system? Is it difficult for talent to find outlets with which to materialise a good idea? Do public and private initiatives work well together?
The speakers at the round table talked about talent, this intangible value that is essential for the success of any project. Diego De Arístegui Laborde, Project Director of Invest in Madrid, explained several of the initiatives adopted by the Community of Madrid to promote the creation and growth of start-ups. Alex García Ingrisano, Director of New Business and Head of Deep Tech at Orbyn Alternative Assets, delved into the factors that determine the success of a region when it comes to fostering entrepreneurship, focusing on the examples of Silicon Valley, London, Paris and Barcelona. Raúl Alelú Paz, Co-Founder & CEO EVER3, Co-Founder & CSO Healthy Minds Analytics, explained what companies need to do to retain and attract talent. Ariel Rose Borrego, Associate Director of IE Entrepreneur & Innovation Center at IE University, focused on the creation of talent through Universities. Finally, Silvia Morgano, CEO of Change Capital Spain, helped to identify the values that investors look for when investing in a talented project.
This event, organised by Invest In Madrid in collaboration with GBO, was also possible thanks to the collaboration of several entities of the Community of Madrid, such as Vinos de Madrid and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs, which lent its premises “Garaje de AJE” for the celebration of the event.
After the presentations, both the audience and the speakers had the opportunity to share their concerns. This is precisely the mission of these events: to provide meeting places for investors, corporates, entrepreneurs and all those involved in the economic progress of the region of Madrid, so that they can share their ideas and concerns and find joint ways to implement an idea or project. All of this with one aim: to continue creating companies, to continue growing and to continue building an ecosystem.
