Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment Rocío Albert highlighted these figures during the presentation of Airbus’ new Aerospace Academy educational initiative, held in Madrid and attended by representatives from the aerospace industry and public authorities.
“Talent does not happen by chance. It must be developed, retained, continuously updated and aligned with the real needs of businesses,” Albert said. She also highlighted the Community of Madrid’s collaboration with the European aerospace group through a range of training programmes, internships and applied research initiatives, which have enabled participating students to achieve employment rates of over 80%.
She also underlined that the forthcoming Strategy to Boost the Drone Ecosystem, backed by a €15 million public investment, represents an opportunity to strengthen the region’s technological leadership in a field closely linked to the aerospace and defence industries. The strategy is already exploring opportunities for collaboration with Airbus.
The initiative forms part of the Community of Madrid’s 2026–2030 Industrial Plan, which also envisages the development of new specialised industrial districts: the Northern District, focused on the aerospace and biopharmaceutical sectors, and the Southern District and Henares Corridor, specialising in logistics, transport, aeronautics and defence.
