The Minister of Digitalization, Miguel López-Valverde, inaugurated the forum at the Adolfo Suárez Auditorium in Tres Cantos. The event is part of the regional government’s Digital Entrepreneurship Networks program. In his speech, López-Valverde explained that the initiative aims to ensure “Madrid-based startups have the resources, training, and connections necessary to turn their ideas into high-impact proposals, positioning Madrid as a leading region in innovation, talent, and technological competitiveness at both national and international levels.”
Among the companies selected for this event, there are projects focused on healthcare, using AI to advance medical degree recognition or to improve rehabilitation and aging programs. Other ideas relate to mobility and tourism, connecting travelers and cultural destinations through digital routes. Additionally, some projects apply new technologies to the economy, including automation of taxes and accounting for freelancers, among other areas.
As part of this project, funded by the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan through the European Union’s Next Generation EU program, the of Madrid Region offers emerging businesses guidance and support to facilitate connections with funds and investors relevant to their activities.
Boosting AI and Blockchain Use
The Minister highlighted “the regional government’s commitment to innovation, competitiveness, and modernization of the region’s productive fabric.” In this regard, he recalled that the regional government has helped fund, through two public calls, more than 85 initiatives using Artificial Intelligence to improve company efficiency, with a total investment of nearly 10 million euros.
The regional government has also invested over two million euros to promote the use of blockchain technology—a system that enables digital transactions—among regional businesses. Around twenty companies have already developed innovative solutions in fields such as cybersecurity, education, and freight transport thanks to this support.
