The Madrid Region highlights health startups in the region as the driving force of technological innovation in Spain

The Regional Minister for Digitalization of the Madrid Region, Miguel López-Valverde, today closed the event marking the tenth anniversary of the startup program for healthcare companies, Emprende InHealth, held at the Digitaliza Madrid Innovation Center

During his speech, the minister stated that “health sector startups in Madrid are the driving force behind technological innovation in Spain,” and affirmed that “the region already competes among Europe’s top hubs for investment and opportunities thanks to the regional government’s support for entrepreneurship and public-private collaboration in the development of technological solutions.”

López-Valverde noted that the region has established itself as Spain’s leading startup ecosystem, with more than 2,100 active technology companies, many of them linked to the healthcare sector, biotechnology, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to healthcare services. “Digitalization in this field allows us to move toward more personalized, preventive, and efficient care, but also more human-centered,” she stated.
