Albert took part in the conference ‘Managing the demographic challenge: Paradigm shift and new solutions’, organised by the Málaga Silver Economy Hub and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in the capital, where she stated that “hiring experience is also an investment”.
Albert explained that the Plan includes 15 measures and around 50 initiatives aimed at full employment, lifelong learning, intergenerational dialogue and support for entrepreneurship, including a specialist guidance service with personalised roadmaps, the recruitment of senior trainers and a programme to certify experience and turn it into intergenerational mentoring, as well as the extension of the Zero Rate scheme to older new self-employed workers. The minister has framed these initiatives within the demographic challenge facing the region — which has the highest life expectancy in Europe, at 86.1 years — and has argued that “the silver economy is not about managing age; it is about organising a long-lived society so that it is more prosperous, more cohesive and freer”.
