Albert made these remarks during the inauguration in the capital of a new store belonging to the BM supermarket chain, owned by Grupo UVESCO. The opening has involved an investment of three million euros and will create nearly thirty direct jobs.
In this regard, Albert recalled that “the region has consolidated its position as one of the main strategic territories for Grupo UVESCO outside its historic base in northern Spain, with more than 85 stores and nearly 2,000 employees,” thanks to the policies implemented by the regional government. Among these measures are the Commercial Activity Promotion Act, which since 2012 has eliminated urban planning licenses and guarantees freedom of opening hours and business operations, and the Open Market Act of 2022, aimed at reducing administrative procedures and regulatory barriers. Albert also stressed that the Madrid Region continues to be the country’s main economic driver, with growth of 3% in 2025, two-tenths of a percentage point above the national average, and a regional GDP of €336.489 billion, accounting for 19.8% of Spain’s total GDP.
