The Madrid Region has begun processing the new Law on Measures Against Overregulation to Boost the Region’s Economy, an initiative aimed at promoting the growth and competitiveness of Madrid’s economy through regulatory simplification and the reduction of administrative burdens.
To this end, the Governing Council today approved the publication on the Transparency Portal of the prior public consultation for this preliminary draft bill, which seeks to provide the regional legal framework with effective tools to streamline interactions between citizens, businesses and the Administration, while preventing excessive regulations that may unjustifiably hinder the free exercise of economic activity or the unity of the market.
The initiative also aims to encourage investment by substantially reducing the administrative timeframes required for the implementation of business projects, optimizing public action in the face of slow or fragmented procedures.
This consultation process will make it possible to gather contributions from citizens and organizations potentially affected by the future law, with the aim of ensuring that the final text responds to the real needs of Madrid society.
The new Law reflects the regional government’s commitment to combating overregulation, with 540 regulations simplified or eliminated over the past five years. These measures include amendments to the Land Law to facilitate the granting of permits and reduce processing times, as well as, in the area of Family policy, the extension of the use of declarations of responsibility to access the social services network.
The prior public consultation on the new Law Against Overregulation will soon be available on the Madrid Region Transparency Portal.
