The new service, managed by Invest in Madrid, will offer technical assistance in accessing European, multilateral and national funding programmes. It will also support companies in attracting foreign capital through framework agreements with institutions in other countries and provide guidance on the financing instruments available to them.
The announcement was made by the Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, during a meeting with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) attended by Japanese startups, universities and companies. During the event, Albert emphasized that Madrid aims to “continue serving as a bridge between Japan and Europe by offering a competitive ecosystem where businesses can grow, access talent and connect with new markets.”
The event brought together representatives from Kyoto’s innovation ecosystem, Aichi Prefecture and its affiliated organizations, as well as companies interested in the Community of Madrid as a destination for technology projects. During the meeting, the Regional Minister reaffirmed the regional government’s commitment to creating a favorable environment for startups and entrepreneurs.
Albert highlighted the Community of Madrid’s economic model, which is based on entrepreneurial freedom, a competitive and steadily declining tax burden, and the progressive reduction of bureaucratic obstacles. This approach has enabled the region to consolidate its position as Spain’s leading economy, accounting for nearly 20% of the country’s GDP, while also leading the nation in attracting foreign investment and creating jobs.
The meeting marked the conclusion of Minister Albert’s five-day official visit to Japan, during which the regional government showcased Madrid’s economic strengths and the investment opportunities the region offers to businesses and investors.
