The Madrid Region Leads Business Creation in September with 2,159 New Companies, Nearly 12% More than Last Year

The Madrid Region was Spain’s leading region for business creation in September, with 2,159 new companies established—an increase of 11.9% compared to the same month last year. It was followed by Catalonia, with 1,618, and Andalusia, with 1,520, according to data published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE)

A total of 23.3% of all companies founded in Spain during this period chose Madrid as the location to start their activity—nearly one in four. The total subscribed capital of these new firms reached €78.7 million, representing 19.2% of the national total.

Between January and September this year, 20,847 companies have been established in the region, accounting for 22.3% of all those created in Spain. Compared to the same period in 2024, this represents a growth of 5.7%. Catalonia follows with 18,192 new firms, and Andalusia with 15,610. Likewise, the total capitalization for the first nine months of the year amounts to €715.2 million, or 17.6% of the national figure.

So far in 2025, an average of 76 new businesses have been created each day in the Madrid Region, with an average subscribed capital of €34,305 per company.
