The region has also reached a record high in Social Security enrolment, with 3,934,223 contributors, accounting for 17.5% of the national total.
The Madrid Region generated 21.9% of all new jobs created in Spain, meaning that more than one in every five new jobs nationwide was created in the region—an average of 364 jobs per day. In terms of job quality, of the 233,506 employment contracts signed over the past 12 months, 45.3% were permanent contracts, nearly four percentage points above the national average of 41.5%.
Official figures released by Spain’s central government for the month of June also show that unemployment in the Community of Madrid fell by 1.8% (4,929 people) over the past year, bringing the total number of unemployed people to 269,809—the lowest figure for this period since 2008.
Since June 2025, unemployment has declined equally among both men and women (down 1.8% in each case) and across all sectors, with the sharpest decreases recorded in Construction (-12%) and Agriculture (-7.6%), followed by Industry (-1.6%) and Services (-0.8%).
Meanwhile, the number of self-employed workers in the Community of Madrid increased by 9,257 (+2.1%) compared with the previous year, bringing the total to 446,629—the highest number of self-employed workers since records began.
