The Madrid Region Led Startup Investment in Spain in 2025 with Over €1.2 Billion

The Madrid Region led startup investment in Spain in 2025, attracting more than €1.2 billion.

This was highlighted by the Regional Minister for Digitalization, Miguel López-Valverde, during his speech at the launch of the Startup Olé 2026 event, held at the Madrid Stock Exchange Palace. He explained that “from the regional government, we are creating an open innovation environment in which the administration is not a barrier for emerging companies, but a partner that streamlines administrative procedures, promotes public-private collaboration, and implements specific business support programs.”

López-Valverde noted that the region ranks among the top 10 in Europe in this field, alongside cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam. However, it surpasses these major hubs in terms of growth, standing as the third fastest-growing tech center on the continent since 2017, behind only Prague and Oslo.

He also stated that investments have been primarily focused on areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), scientific research, and mobile application development. “Our goal is for any entrepreneur seeking to develop advanced technology to know that here they have an ally to help promote their projects, attract investment, and generate high-quality employment,” he emphasized.
