The Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, visited the company’s facilities in Alcalá de Henares today, where she learned first-hand about the progress of the project, which has been declared of special interest by the regional Investment Accelerator.
The project will generate around 100 highly qualified direct jobs, most of them technical positions that will be offered on a permanent basis. Albert highlighted this as “an example of the potential of Madrid’s pharmaceutical industry and of the regional government’s commitment to attracting high value-added investments that create quality employment.”
Albert also stressed the importance of the Investment Accelerator in speeding up the processing of the project. This body, created in 2023 to cut in half the processing times for major business initiatives, is currently working on 15 projects declared to be of special interest and is considering the inclusion of another eleven. To date, it has expedited proposals that will represent €5.7 billion in investment and the creation of nearly 10,000 jobs.
The regional minister announced that the regional government is working on an evolution of the Accelerator with three main objectives: to speed up the implementation of projects with a strong impact on wealth and job creation in the Madrid Region; to promote coordination among the different stakeholders involved in their administrative processing; and to generate confidence, certainty, and proper expectation management among investors.
“It is a key tool for removing bureaucratic obstacles and offering national and international investors the best conditions to develop their projects in Madrid, and with this evolution we will take another step forward to ensure that the region continues to be the preferred destination in Spain,” she added.
Bio-pharmaceutical sector strategy
Insud Pharma’s investment is part of the work carried out by the Invest in Madrid agency and the Bio-pharmaceutical Sector Strategy 2025–2028 presented by the regional government to consolidate the region as a benchmark in the sector.
Madrid is home to 82 companies dedicated to the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, representing 23% of the national total, with a turnover of €5.106 billion and accounting for 26% of the sector’s revenue in Spain. These companies employ 17,656 people, 31% more than in February 2020. In addition, the region leads exports in the sector, which in 2025 reached €10.462 billion, representing 48% of all exports nationwide in this field.
