American Companies Eye Big Opportunities at Madrid’s Premier Defense Expo

The Madrid region blends a unique combination of talent and innovation, making it a strategic choice for international players in the defense sector.

International Defense and Security Exhibition of Spain, FEINDEF, will hold its next edition from May 12 to 14, 2025 in Madrid, positioning itself as a key global benchmark for the defense and security industry. Organized by the FEINDEF Foundation with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the event will bring together over 500 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge solutions and critical technologies for the sector, further enhancing its international profile.

Against this backdrop, major American companies have already confirmed their participation, underscoring both FEINDEF 2025’s global reach and the rising interest of U.S. defense firms in Spain. Among the standouts are Bombardier, specialized in highperformance aircraft; VectorNav, a leader in inertial navigation; Viasat, a global communications powerhouse; RapidFort, a specialist in CI/CD security solutions; Jonathan Group, a manufacturer of advanced protective systems; Amphenol, one of the largest connector producers worldwide; and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., a top name in remotely piloted aircraft and radar technologies.

The Madrid region, home to key government and regulatory institutions (including the Ministry of Defense), blends a unique combination of talent and
innovation, making it a strategic choice for international players in the defense sector.

A prime example is Lockheed Martin, a U.S.-based global defense leader, also exhibiting at the Trade Show, which established itself in Madrid more than 20 years ago. Since then, the Maryland-headquartered company has closely collaborated with local industry on next-generation technologies and integrated system solutions through key programs like the Aegis Combat System and SPY-7 radar. Another key player is Boeing, which established its first Research & Technology Center outside the U.S in Madrid and has long supported Spain’s defense capabilities by supplying over 80 EF-18 Hornet fighter jets—now the backbone of the Spanish Air Force— and advanced systems to the Navy, including13 ScanEagle drones. These initiatives illustrate not only Madrid’s vast potential for international defense cooperation but also the significant business opportunities available to American firms.

Ultimately, FEINDEF 2025 promises to be more than just a showcase of cutting-edge defense technologies; it also highlights Spain’s expanding role as a dynamic hub for collaboration between American defense giants and local innovators. With Madrid’s thriving tech ecosystem fueling fresh ideas and the ongoing commitment of leading U.S. firms, the event is poised to cultivate strategic alliances that will reinforce Spain’s standing in an evolving global defense landscape.
