Claudia Veas Yáñez, General Manager, Europe at Inside Security: Madrid offers a highly attractive ecosystem for cybersecurity companies, both because of its technological development and the concentration of large companies, startups, innovation centres and specialised talent

Initiatives such as Invest in Madrid facilitate this process and enable companies to make expansion decisions with greater information and confidence

We interviewed Claudia Veas Yáñez, General Manager, Europe at Inside Security, a company specialising in cybersecurity and information security.

  1. For those who are not yet familiar with Inside Security, how would you define the company and what needs of organisations do you address?

Inside Security is an international consulting firm with more than 18 years of experience in the Chilean market, with a presence across Latin America and Spain. We advise and support companies throughout their cybersecurity and systems protection processes, helping them prevent internal and/or external attacks, reduce their levels of vulnerability and become more secure organisations for themselves and their customers.

This is reflected in our ability to:

  • Reduce risks by securing complex ecosystems
  • Protect our clients’ businesses and environments
  • Strengthen overall business sustainability and resilience
  • Enhance reputation
  1. Cybersecurity now encompasses many different areas. What are the main areas in which Inside Security operates, and what types of companies use your services?

Inside Security operates across three main areas: application security, information security and infrastructure security.

In the early years of the company, we grew alongside the financial sector, which has traditionally been the most heavily regulated, as well as the telecommunications industry. Today, cybersecurity is relevant across every industry, which has enabled us to work with major clients in sectors such as healthcare, energy, education, retail, industrial and manufacturing, while continuing to support companies in banking, insurance and telecommunications.

  1. What services do you currently offer companies to help them identify and reduce their cybersecurity risks?

Inside Security offers a comprehensive approach to reducing cybersecurity risks and strengthening organisational resilience, working across three critical areas: applications, information and infrastructure. We support our clients throughout the entire process, from identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, secure development and ethical hacking to risk management, regulatory compliance, business continuity, incident response and CISO services.

We complement these capabilities with proactive monitoring, forensic analysis, vulnerability management, and the protection of cloud and on-premises environments. All of this is underpinned by specialised consulting, training, awareness and ongoing support, adapting to the maturity level and specific needs of each organisation in order to anticipate risks, protect critical assets and ensure business continuity.

  1. What does your gap analysis involve, and what value does it provide to a company that wants to understand how prepared it is to face current threats or new regulatory requirements?

Our role is to assess the current situation in terms of cybersecurity, risk management, processes and controls, identifying gaps against applicable regulations, standards and best practices. Based on this assessment, we provide a prioritised roadmap tailored to the business, enabling organisations to focus their resources, reduce risks and progressively move towards higher levels of compliance, security and business resilience.

Regardless of the service we provide, our greatest value lies in becoming a partner and strategic ally that is fully committed to the company’s security at all times.

  1. How has the digital threat landscape changed in recent years, and what are currently the main risks facing companies?

The threat landscape has evolved significantly. Attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, automated and difficult to detect. Today, the aim is not only to compromise systems, but also to gain access to critical information, disrupt operations or damage organisations’ reputations. Artificial intelligence is also enabling attackers to develop much more personalised and effective social engineering campaigns.

Among the main risks currently facing organisations are ransomware, phishing, credential theft, vulnerabilities in applications and cloud services, and risks associated with third parties and suppliers. Against this backdrop, organisations need to move from a reactive approach to a strategy focused on prevention, monitoring and resilience, enabling them to anticipate threats and respond effectively to incidents.

  1. Inside Security has a presence in Madrid. How important is the region to your growth strategy in Spain and Europe?

We are interested in addressing the Spanish market because cybersecurity is highly developed here, with a significant number of regulations encouraging both large companies and SMEs to increasingly invest in resources to meet their cybersecurity and information security needs.

Madrid is therefore a market in which we see significant opportunities to develop as a company, offering a value proposition recognised by the industry, providing advice on regulatory compliance and technical solutions, and combining AI-powered tools with regulatory expertise to serve a range of sectors.

Our 18 years of experience in Latin America provide a strong foundation for continuing to deliver the high-quality service that characterises us.

  1. What advantages does Madrid offer a company specialising in cybersecurity and information security?

Madrid offers a highly attractive ecosystem for cybersecurity companies, both because of its technological development and the concentration of large companies, startups, innovation centres and specialised talent. This is complemented by a regulatory environment that is strongly driving the need to strengthen information security.

For Inside Security, Madrid also represents a strategic gateway to Europe. It has enabled us to combine our more than 18 years of experience in Latin America with the needs and standards of a highly developed cybersecurity market, creating new opportunities for collaboration and, above all, growth.

  1. Have you found the talent and technology ecosystem you need in Madrid to develop and grow your business?

A company’s growth depends not only on having the right technology, but also on having access to the right talent and a technology ecosystem capable of supporting its development. Identifying the internal capabilities available, the skills that need to be developed or incorporated, and the strategic partners that can complement the organisation makes it possible to build a more flexible structure that is better prepared for growth.

We operate in an environment shaped by AI, cybersecurity and digital transformation. Therefore, talent, technology and collaboration become strategic enablers for innovation, risk reduction and sustainable business growth. In this regard, Madrid offers all the opportunities needed to create these synergies in the most effective way.

  1. How would you assess your collaboration with Invest in Madrid?

We have only recently started our relationship with Invest in Madrid. Nevertheless, it is already clear that the organisation provides substantial support to foreign companies entering the Madrid market, offering guidance and valuable information to help them establish themselves in a more concrete and realistic way.

  1. Would you recommend the Madrid Region to other foreign investors considering expanding their business internationally?

Absolutely. The Madrid Region offers highly favourable conditions for foreign companies looking to expand: it has a well-developed business and technology ecosystem, specialised talent and a market with growing demand for solutions related to digital transformation and cybersecurity.

From our experience, one of the most important aspects for a company entering a new market is having guidance and support to understand the local environment. In this regard, initiatives such as Invest in Madrid facilitate this process and enable companies to make expansion decisions with greater information and confidence.

For us, Madrid is not simply a new market, but also an opportunity to connect our experience in Latin America with Europe and continue growing sustainably.
