OpenText is a Canadian technology company specializing in the secure management of enterprise information through cloud, artificial intelligence, and business software solutions.
Founded in 1991 in Waterloo, Ontario, it emerged from a collaboration between the University of Waterloo and the University of Oxford to develop the first online version of the Oxford English Dictionary. Since then, it has evolved into one of the world’s leading providers of enterprise software.
Its business model is built around a broad portfolio of solutions spanning content management, business networks, cybersecurity, IT operations, application development, and analytics.
OpenText established its Spanish subsidiary, Open Text Software, S.L., in Madrid on August 3, 2000, consolidating its presence in the Spanish market from the capital. Today, the company operates from its offices in Torre Emperador Castellana, providing services to businesses and public institutions in areas including document management, digital experience, automation, cybersecurity, IT operations, and cloud transformation.
Madrid also serves as a strategic connection point with clients, consulting firms, and technology partners operating across Spain and Southern Europe. From the capital, OpenText supports projects related to the modernization of public services, the secure management of critical information, and the adoption of cloud and artificial intelligence solutions.
Madrid is part of OpenText’s international network of technology events. The event convened business and technology leaders to explore the application of agentic artificial intelligence, automation, and secure, governed information management.
One of OpenText’s most significant projects in Madrid is its collaboration with the City Council. In 2016, the municipality selected OpenText
Cloud to manage municipal content and portals through a project implemented with Indra. The initiative included the migration of more than 500,000 content items and the integration of 150 applications, supporting madrid.es, the electronic headquarters, the intranet, the open data portal, the tourism website, and approximately 100 specialized portals. More recently, OpenText has supported the transformation of internal user services at Logista, a logistics group headquartered in Leganés. Through the deployment of OpenText Service Management Automation X, the project is improving the speed and quality of incident and request management while advancing automation through self-service tools.
