The project, developed by Ferrovial, further strengthens the Madrid region’s position as Spain’s leading hub for high-tech companies and data centers, as well as the second-largest concentration of professionals in the sector in Europe, Díaz Ayuso said during a forum organized by newspaper 20minutos.
The future technology campus in Alcobendas has already received the required favorable reports on urban planning, digital strategy and energy transition, as well as the earthworks permit authorizing the start of construction.
The first phase of the campus, which is expected to deliver 60 MW of capacity and create around 50 permanent direct jobs, has been designated a Project of Special Interest by the Regional Investment Accelerator. This body streamlines and coordinates the administrative procedures required for major infrastructure projects.
Since its creation in 2023, the Regional Investment Accelerator has designated 17 Projects of Special Interest, representing total investment of nearly €9 billion and the creation of more than 5,000 jobs. Eleven of these projects are data centers, four are in the biopharmaceutical sector, one focuses on renewable energy, and another is a logistics project. In addition, four further initiatives are currently under assessment.
