“This is great news, and we are pleased to be here to continue working with these companies that generate so much employment and prosperity in many parts of the world, including our great region,” Díaz Ayuso stated after visiting the company’s headquarters in Mexico City.
The group’s brands operate 377 establishments in Madrid and employ nearly 9,000 people in the capital. Díaz Ayuso thanked the company for its confidence in the region, which serves as the hub of its operations in Europe.
Alsea, which manages a portfolio of 13 global brands and serves 440 million customers annually worldwide, considers Spain one of its strategic markets, with Madrid playing a central role in its structure by hosting corporate functions, the Support and Shared Services Center, and decision-making for its international growth.
Madrid has historically been linked to Alsea’s success, as it is the birthplace of iconic brands such as VIPS (1969), Foster’s Hollywood (1971), and Ginos (1985), and was also chosen to open the first Starbucks in continental Europe in 2002. In addition, the group is responsible for the operations of Domino’s Pizza, a global leader in pizza delivery since 2009.
