“That is why we have the lowest personal income tax rate in Spain and have abolished all regional taxes of our own, most of them artificial inventions designed to keep taking money out of everyone’s pockets,” she stressed. In this regard, the head of the regional government highlighted the 35 tax cuts introduced by her government since 2019, which have benefited families, the self-employed and students, as well as helped tackle depopulation.
Speaking at the opening of the Círculo de Empresarios’ Ideas for Growth forum, Díaz Ayuso recalled that the Madrid regional government has introduced Spain’s first Taxpayer Protection Act, which treats citizens “not as suspects”, but as people who “should be thanked for everything they contribute”. Under the new framework, when the Administration makes a mistake, “it acknowledges it and apologises”. The initiative also includes the creation of a personal tax file, allowing taxpayers to access and monitor their tax information in a timely manner.
