This was highlighted by the Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, during the closing session of the III Madrid Investment Forum in Alcalá de Henares, a three-day event organised by the regional government to showcase the region’s competitive advantages to national and international investors.
Albert attributed this leading position to economic freedom, legal certainty and an investor-friendly tax system with no regional taxes of its own and the lowest personal income tax rate in Spain. “We are talking about an economy that is no longer conceived from the centre outwards, but is distributed from the outset across all of its municipalities,” she said.
This is complemented by Madrid’s role as a natural bridge between Europe and Latin America, from where €7.863 billion has arrived since 2019, accounting for three out of every four euros of the national total. In this context, the work of Invest in Madrid, the regional agency responsible for attracting and supporting international investment projects, is key, with a return of €549 for every euro it receives. In 2025 alone, the agency facilitated 77 projects, mobilising €1.099 billion and creating more than 2,000 jobs.
The final day of the Madrid Investment Forum began this morning in Villaconejos, with sessions focused on boosting rural and tourism development and the application of Artificial Intelligence in the agricultural sector. In the afternoon, the forum moved to Alcalá de Henares, where a panel discussion on entrepreneurship was held and the investment awards were presented.
Over the course of the three-day event, the forum visited the capital, Valdemoro, Tres Cantos, Villanueva de la Cañada, Villaconejos and Alcalá de Henares, with the participation of six members of the regional government and discussions on Digitalisation, Defence, Healthcare Innovation, Housing, Logistics and the reconstruction of the Sierra Oeste, among other topics.
