This was highlighted by the Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, during a visit to the headquarters of NÜO Planet in Arganda del Rey.
Albert visited the manufacturing workshop and R&D centre of the company, which specialises in access control and biometric identification. She highlighted NÜO Planet as an example of how “advanced technological solutions can be designed, developed and manufactured with an international presence.”
The Spanish-owned company, with more than 80% of its workforce made up of engineering professionals, allocates around one-fifth of its revenues to research and development. Its systems are used in banking, healthcare, education, transport and critical infrastructure, and are used by 40% of companies listed on Spain’s IBEX 35 index.
The region is also home to 25% of Spain’s leading high- and medium-high-technology companies, a strength that Albert attributed to the talent of its professionals, the entrepreneurial capacity of the business community and an environment conducive to investment and competitiveness.
Albert announced that the upcoming 2026–2030 Industrial Plan will represent an “unprecedented” effort to boost Madrid’s economy and attract high-value-added activities. Measures will focus on fields such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductors, aerospace, defence and biotechnology, with the aim of attracting investment and consolidating strategic sectors that generate greater prosperity and create more opportunities for young people.
