José María García, Deputy Regional Minister for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, took part in the third edition of the Madrid Investment Forum, organised by the regional government to showcase Madrid’s advantages to foreign investors.
During his speech, García stated that “without stability, without public-private collaboration and without legal certainty, there is no investment, and without investment, there is no affordable housing.” He also noted that several urban development projects that had been stalled for years are now moving forward at a good pace.
Madrid Region accounts for more than 40% of Spain’s protected housing stock and will expand the Plan Vive programme with 2,500 new homes, aimed particularly at people under 35, bringing the total number of homes launched during this legislative term to 16,500. These will be complemented by Plan Vive Seguridad, Plan Vive Sanitario and Plan Vive Universitario, the latter of which provides for eight new student residences involving the regional government, companies, local councils and universities.
