Mexico will participate as the partner country in the upcoming FITUR edition in 2026. The significant visibility that Mexico will have at FITUR 2026 will be crucial in further strengthening the ties between Mexico and Spain, boosting investment in the Community of Madrid, where FITUR is held, as a privileged destination for Mexican entrepreneurs, offering unparalleled access and a platform to the European market.
Considering the economic impact on the city of Madrid, according to data from last year, FITUR reached record figures in its latest edition, with nearly 255,000 visitors. The organization estimates that its economic impact on the city’s economy will be approximately 440 million euros.
Furthermore, considering the impact on investments, the fact that Mexico will be the partner country of FITUR 2026 will attract more Mexican investors. The presence of more Mexican executives and entrepreneurs at the event will promote networking opportunities with key players from strategic sectors in the Community of Madrid, further positioning it as a strategic destination for investment.
Additionally, it will allow Mexico’s strengths in sectors beyond tourism to be showcased, facilitating its internationalization and access to the European market through Madrid. This fair could be a meeting point for Mexican investors interested in tourism projects in Madrid (either leisure or business), technology-related projects in the tourism sector (as already seen at FITUR 2025, where Mexico and Spain have the opportunity to create technological synergies), or real estate projects (with an increasing presence of Mexican investments in Madrid).
Mexican investors will find in the Community of Madrid an economy distinguished by being open and internationalized, one that promotes investment and leads the destination for foreign investment in Spain, hosting more than 15,500 foreign-owned companies from over 100 different countries. Companies from Mexico, which is currently the 6th largest investor in Spain, can find in the Community of Madrid incentives and benefits for establishing themselves, and through Invest in Madrid, access services for setting up or expanding their business in any of the region’s 179 municipalities.
