This was highlighted by Economy, Finance and Employment Minister Rocío Albert at the closing of the opening day of the III Madrid Investment Forum, the forum organised by the regional government to showcase Madrid’s competitive advantages to national and international investment funds.
“When we talk about attracting investment, we are not talking only about figures. We are talking about confidence, stability and the ability to create opportunities,” the Minister stressed. She also noted that the region attracted nearly €16 billion in international investment funds last year, accounting for 52% of the total in Spain.
This strong performance, Albert added, underpinned by economic freedom, legal certainty and public-private cooperation, has positioned Madrid as Europe’s fourth-largest financial centre and one of the continent’s leading technology hubs in the south, with leading companies in sectors such as aerospace, healthcare, finance and artificial intelligence.
To further strengthen this position, the regional government has carried out investment promotion initiatives over the past year in strategic markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Mexico, as well as in Asia. These efforts will be complemented by Madrid Abierto, the first economic internationalisation strategy aimed at connecting SMEs with investors from around the world.
The III Madrid Investment Forum will continue this afternoon in Valdemoro with two discussions focused on Artificial Intelligence and logistics. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the programme will address healthcare innovation, technology applied to defence and the reconstruction of the Sierra Oeste area. The forum will conclude on Wednesday with tourism, rural areas and entrepreneurship as the main topics.
