The appeal of the Madrid region

The well-known city ranking by Time Out Group PLC has included five Spanish regions among the 50 best in the world, and the Madrid region is one of them.

The study, based on the opinions of more than 20,000 residents, evaluated various aspects of urban life, from gastronomy, nightlife, and culture to affordability, happiness, and the general atmosphere of Madrid. Since life in large cities can sometimes be expensive and lonely, this year’s focus was on identifying the factors that make a region feel truly like home.
In this sense, the Madrid region holds an important position. But what makes the Madrid region such a special place for more Mexicans to come and live?

It offers a combination of high quality of life and an affordable cost of living, which positively impacts employee satisfaction and retention. Year after year, consulting firms specializing in analyzing the cost of living for residents and expatriate workers, such as Mori Foundation, Mercer, and Numbeo, highlight the Madrid region as one of the most affordable and best places to live among Western capitals.

For Mexicans arriving for the first time, they value the quality of life, public services, the daily-opening restaurants, the ability to get around using public transport, and, above all, the peace of living in a safe country. Furthermore, the region, rich in history and with vibrant modernity, offers a diverse and attractive quality of life, making it an increasingly sought-after destination. No wonder, studies by the OECD have recognized Spain’s leadership in balancing personal and work life.

Moreover, surveys of expatriates from several Latin American countries have recognized the quality of life in the region in recent years, highlighting improvements in overall quality of life, social interaction, physical health, climate, and the environment.

In its latest edition, Internations ranks the Madrid region as the sixth best place in the world for expatriates, and the first European capital. Additionally, the Madrid region is, in fact, the European region with the highest life expectancy at birth for women (87.7 years) and the second for men (82.4 years).

Beyond its economic attractions, the Madrid region offers social, cultural, and well-being advantages that make it an ideal option for Mexican companies and individuals looking to expand in the region.
