The Community of Madrid attracts more than 71% of all foreign foreign investment coming to Spain

Madrid does not compete with other cities in Spain, but plays in the league of London, Paris and other major European capitals.

Yesterday was held the forum ‘Madrid, global capital’, organised by Economía Digital with the collaboration of Invest in Madrid. The event focused on Madrid’s growth and the possibility of creating a hub of prosperity and opportunities to attract investment and visitors.

The inauguration was led by Rocío Albert López-Ibor, Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, who stressed that ‘the Community of Madrid is the region with the highest GDP per capita in Spain. We attract more than 71% of all foreign investment that comes to our country’.

He added: ‘This is the result of decades of work and of having a great institutional stability that gives confidence and security to anyone who wants to invest in our region. In Madrid we don’t have our own taxes, we don’t change the rules of the game halfway through, we have an open line against hyper-regulation, we have the lowest taxation in Spain, and we know that entrepreneurs are the ones who generate economic wealth’.

The fact is that Madrid does not compete with other cities in Spain, but plays in the league of London, Paris and other major European capitals. This is, among other things, because of three variables that make the Madrid region unique: the high quality of life, the plurality and the powerful industry that exists.

As a result, Madrid has consolidated its position as the region that creates the most jobs. Three out of every four jobs created in Spain are in the region.

On the other hand, Luis Socías Uribe, Executive Director of Invest in Madrid, participated in ‘The battle for the industry of the future’, one of the round tables of the event, which focused on Madrid’s comparative advantages and potential. During the colloquium, he stressed that ‘In the framework of attracting foreign investment, we work to ensure that companies have a perfect balance between life project and investment project, always under the umbrella of talent’.

And he stressed: ‘We work with the firm commitment that what is good for Madrid is good for Spain’.

However, and as the Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid commented Community of Madrid, Madrid is not only the capital. For this reason, Invest in  Madrid is working to attract investment to the 179 municipalities in the region. region. During yesterday’s event we were able to see examples from Móstoles, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Arganda del Rey and Las Rozas from their mayors.
