The District 2026 Brings Leading U.S. and Canadian Real Estate Investors to Madrid

Madrid will host The District for the first time from September 22 to 24 at IFEMA Madrid.

The 2026 edition will bring together more than 15,000 international professionals, over 450 experts, and more than 360 companies, including some of the largest real estate investment firms from the United States and Canada.

Confirmed participants include U.S. firms such as Blackstone, TPG, Nuveen, LaSalle Investment Management, Barings, Harrison Street, Starwood Capital, BlackRock, Carlyle, and PIMCO, as well as Canada-based Brookfield Asset Management.

Representatives from these companies will gather in Madrid to assess the next real estate investment cycle and opportunities across sectors including residential, offices, hotels, logistics, data centers, and AI-related infrastructure.

Their presence comes as North American capital continues to play a significant role in Madrid’s economy. In 2025, the Madrid region attracted nearly $18.6 billion in foreign investment, representing 51.9% of Spain’s total. The United States was the region’s largest source of foreign investment, accounting for 28.7% of total inflows, while Canada represented a further 11.4%. Real estate activities accounted for 11.7% of all foreign investment received by the region that year.

The District is moving to Madrid after four consecutive editions in Barcelona. The latest edition brought together 14,537 professionals from 37 countries and generated an economic impact of more than $40.8 million. In addition to investment-focused sessions, the Madrid program will include dedicated spaces for proptech, venture capital, and meetings between funds, investors, and developers to assess projects and new financing opportunities.

The event also comes at a time of sustained U.S. investment in the region. Since 2019, investment from the United States in the Madrid region has exceeded $33 billion, according to the Madrid Regional Government. That figure reflects the growing presence of U.S. capital across sectors including technology, digital infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and data centers.

With some of the leading U.S. and Canadian investment firms gathering at IFEMA, The District will give Madrid a new platform to showcase projects and opportunities to international investors. The combination of strong foreign capital inflows, a diversified real estate market, and fast-growing segments such as data centers and living assets further strengthens Madrid’s position as one of Europe’s leading destinations for North American investment.
