Luis Socías, Managing Director of Invest in Madrid, took part in the Madrid–Sweden Urban and Industrial Innovation Forum, a high-level event held at the Embassy of Sweden that brought together key public- and private-sector stakeholders to explore opportunities for sustainable urban and industrial transformation in Madrid.
Based on the strategic priorities of the Madrid Region and Madrid City Council, the forum presented a forward-looking vision for the region’s development, with particular focus on sustainable mobility, urban expansion, and industrial modernization, thereby strengthening collaboration between Swedish and Spanish stakeholders in the fields of infrastructure, construction, and smart urban solutions.
In this context, Luis Socías highlighted the the Madrid Region as a prime destination for foreign investment and emphasized the role of Invest in Madrid as the regional office dedicated to supporting foreign investors in Madrid.
The the Madrid Region has a strong commitment to high value-added industry. As Spain’s second-largest industrial region, it contributes nearly €23 billion to the economy and is home to 18,000 industrial companies that generate approximately 300,000 direct jobs.
At this stage, the regional government is preparing to launch the 2026–2030 Industrial Plan, which will inject €640 million into the modernization of Madrid’s industrial sector and will include the Community of Madrid’s first-ever internationalization strategy.
During his speech, the Managing Director of Invest in Madrid also emphasized the important work carried out by the organization, whose main commitment is to minimize the time between an entrepreneur’s decision to invest in the the Madrid Region and the realization of the project itself.
The Madrid–Sweden Urban and Industrial Innovation Forum also featured keynote presentations, including one by Luís Miguel Torres Hernández, Director General for Transport and Mobility of the the Madrid Region, as well as expert panel discussions designed to encourage dialogue and facilitate the development of partnerships.
