The Madrid Region Closes 2025 Leading Business Creation with a Historic Record of New Companies

The Madrid Region led business creation in 2025, recording a +4.6% increase and reaching a historic high with a total of 28,348 new companies established. More than one in five new companies in Spain (22.2%) chose the region to start their operations, well ahead of Catalonia (24,907) and Andalusia (21,503).

The data published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE) show that, on average, 78 businesses were created per day in the Madrid Region, with an average capital investment of €35,388, reaching a total of €1.003 billion, representing 17.4% of the national total.

Meanwhile, in December of last year, Madrid also achieved the highest business creation figures, with 2,445 companies established, accounting for 20.9% of all Spain’s autonomous communities, marking a +6.8% increase compared to 2024. In this case, Catalonia (2,237) and Andalusia (2,048) ranked next.

The subscribed capital of the newly created companies reached €128 million, reflecting a +40% increase and accounting for 16.6% of the national total.
