Albert made these remarks while closing the presentation of the 2025 activity report of the Conxemar association, which brings together more than 250 companies in the sector with an annual turnover of nearly €12.5 billion. The event was held at the Royal Post Office building.
In her view, there can be no sustainable growth without a “solid, diversified, and competitive” business fabric. In the case of Conxemar, she stressed that it forms an essential part of Spain’s overall productive structure. The regional government’s Minister of Economy highlighted its role as a generator of employment, added value, and as a driver of key sectors such as logistics and distribution.
This potential is reflected in the leadership of Mercamadrid, whose Central Fish Market ranks first in the world for its unique variety of species—both fresh and frozen—and second in terms of trading volume, with nearly 150,000 tonnes of food marketed in 2024.
