The Madrid Region Highlights That Economic Stability Enables 95% of the Region’s Industry to Maintain or Increase Their Workforce

The Madrid Region has emphasized that the economic, regulatory, and labor stability the region offers its industrial sector contributes to 95% of industry professionals planning to maintain or expand their workforce — two percentage points above the national average.

This also contributes to 63% of respondents holding very favorable expectations regarding their company’s performance — six percentage points higher than in the rest of Spain.

This was confirmed by the Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, during the presentation of the 2025 Industrial Barometer, prepared by the Official Association of Industrial Technical Engineers and Graduates of Madrid (COGITIM). The report compiles the views of nearly 2,500 engineers from across Spain and addresses issues such as employment, developments in the sector, measures adopted by different public administrations, and future prospects.

Albert recalled that Madrid has 3.8 million people registered with the Social Security system and an unemployment rate of 7%, 2.5 percentage points below the national average, already very close to the goal of full employment. To further advance along this path, the regional government is working on the upcoming 2026–2030 Industrial Plan, with an investment exceeding €640 million. The plan will promote industrial districts that will provide companies with investment advisory services and assist them in streamlining administrative procedures to create businesses that contribute to competitive economic growth.

It will also include new funding schemes focused on the modernization and digitalization of SMEs to help them expand into international markets. In addition, it will implement the first Strategy to Promote the Drone Ecosystem, announced this week by President Díaz Ayuso, aimed at fostering this technology and supporting manufacturers and pilots, alongside an ambitious, specialized training program designed to prepare the skilled professionals demanded by these companies.
