More than one in five new companies established in Spain (22.2%) chose the region to begin operations, significantly surpassing Catalonia (2,754) and Andalusia (2,380), which ranked second and third respectively.
Data published by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) show that the share capital subscribed by these firms reached €321.2 million, representing an increase of +325% compared to the previous year and accounting for 38% of the national total, placing the Madrid Region at the top among all autonomous communities in this category as well.
Madrid was also the region with the highest number of companies created during the first quarter of 2026, with 8,271 new businesses and growth of +25.3%. This means that 92 new businesses were created every day.
Subscribed capital during this period amounted to €551.5 million, representing 27% of the national total, while the capitalization of Madrid-based companies stood at €66,680, well above the Spanish average of €52,861.
