Aiming to attract new investment, the Regional Minister for Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, accompanied by the Director of Invest in Madrid, Luis Socías, and the Director of Economy and Industry, Jaime Martínez, begins this Thursday a two-day official visit to the country.
On the first day, Albert will hold a meeting in Milan with representatives of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy, attended by executives from companies from both countries, where she will present Madrid as a prime destination for investment. On the same day, she will visit the headquarters of the pharmaceutical companies Rovi Biotech and Italfarmaco, as well as the telecommunications firm Italtel, highlighting the regional government’s commitment to these high value-added industries. She will also hold an institutional meeting with representatives of the Lombardy region to strengthen economic and trade ties.
The following day, the minister’s agenda will include visits to the main facilities of the automotive multinational IVECO and the aerospace company Thales Alenia—two other strategic sectors for the regional government—along with a meeting with her counterpart from the Piedmont region, Andrea Tronzano.
Historically, Italy has been one of the main investor countries in the Madrid Region, which has received more than €26.8 billion since 1993, accounting for 70% of all Italian investment in Spain. In 2023, the presence of Italian companies generated more than 32,000 full-time equivalent jobs, underscoring their strong integration into the regional economy.
