The Madrid’s region, the logistical and sustainable heart of Spain

The Madrid’s region is established as the nucleus of Spain's transport network, functioning as kilometre zero and the point of union between Europe, Africa and Latin America

The Madrid’s region, located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula, is established as the nucleus of Spain’s transport network, functioning as kilometre zero and the point of union between Europe, Africa and Latin America. This geostrategic position, very interesting for potential investors in the region, provides it with great connectivity, transforming it into the access to extensive markets in America, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Logistics centre

The Madrid’s region is the origin and centre of a radial system of land infrastructures that includes more than 17,500 km of roads and motorways, and 3,900 km of high-speed radial roads. In addition, investments of 12,000 million euros are planned to continue expanding this network, consolidating the Region of Madrid as a key logistics hub that connects with the country’s main ports and commercial centres.

Automotive

The automotive sector is the second most important in the region. With an annual turnover in excess of 5,000 million euros, 174 companies operate in this field, of which 60% of their turnover corresponds to exports, exceeding 3,000 million euros. This dynamism translates into the generation of approximately 9,000 jobs in the Community of Madrid.

The Madrid’s region commitment to sustainable mobility is evident through its Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility, which reflects the region’s commitment to intelligent and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.

Logistics parks

The Madrid’s region currently has 23 logistics parks and manages 55% of the air freight that enters Spain. It is a crucial sector that constitutes 7% of GDP and provides jobs for more than 200,000 people. In addition, the regional government will implement the Madrid Logistics Agency, which will contribute in administrative matters, promoting the region as a logistics and connection territory.

Sustainability

The Madrid’s region is promoting sustainable transport, which has multiple benefits. Firstly, it means economic savings for citizens, as the use of public transport or bicycles reduces the costs associated with fuel, vehicle maintenance and parking. Furthermore, it contributes to the reduction of environmental pollution, considering that more than 30% of pollution in the European Union comes from transport, and of this percentage, more than 70% is due to road transport.

In addition to these benefits and this strategic position for potential Latin American investors, the Madrid’s region offers a solid legal framework that protects foreign investment. Its commitment to administrative agility and the reduction of bureaucracy is reflected in the Investment Accelerator offered by the Region, which speeds up the timing of large business projects and facilitates their rapid implementation.

The Region of Madrid is not only the logistical and cultural heart of Spain, but also the epicentre of its economic activity, characterised by an open and internationalised economy that boosts foreign trade and investment, consolidating its position as the main destination for foreign investment in the country.
