As part of the trip to Japan made by the Community of Madrid last September, with the aim of strengthening Invest in Madrid’s mission and continuing to attract investment projects to our region, we met with various investment funds, companies and corporations.
Japan is not only the largest Asian investor in Spain and in Madrid, but of the 11,062 million euros that Japanese companies have invested in Spain since 1993, 75% have gone to Madrid (8,332). Furthermore, of the 500 Japanese companies that have their headquarters in our country, almost half (47.9%) are located in the Madrid region, employing more than 31,600 people.
As a result of this journey, and as a result of the support and advice provided by Invest in Madrid, we are very proud to announce that Biodata Bank, a Japanese company innovating in healthcare technology, has chosen Madrid as the ideal place to open its first office in Spain.
The company Biodata Bank has developed a patented heat flow sensor that accurately tracks changes in core body temperature in real time and triggers alerts when dangerous or unstable levels are detected. The alert system is simple and universal: the watch vibrates, the LED turns from green to red and an alarm sounds. Since 2020, they protect workers in sectors such as construction, energy and foundries, among others.
The Community of Madrid is going through an exceptional moment, attracting investment and talent from all over the world. We have managed to lead in attracting foreign investment in Spain with more than 365,000 million euros accumulated since 1993, which represents 60.5% of all investment received in Spain, followed at a great distance by Catalonia, with 15.5%; the Basque Country, with 4.9%; the Valencian Community with 3.5%, and Andalusia with 2.4%.
Undoubtedly, in view of these figures, Madrid has become an international benchmark, as a safe, high-value bet that offers an exceptional combination of economic stability, qualified talent and advanced infrastructures, generating opportunities and benefits for both companies and society.
