The Madrid Region presents itself as the place to start a business at any age

Invest in Madrid, the office for the promotion and attraction of foreign investment, has analyzed the possibilities of senior entrepreneurship in the Madrid Region.

Today, Invest in Madrid held its third edition of the Madrid Investors Lab, its forum on entrepreneurship where investors, startups, entrepreneurs, corporates, ventures, and other stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Madrid Region gather. On this occasion, the topic of debate revolved around senior entrepreneurship, an increasingly common alternative for those leaving the labor market at an active age.

The protagonists themselves have testified about what it means to start a business after the age of 50. Montse Solera, founding partner of Bimba Talentia, a company focused on showcasing senior female talent; Carlos Molina Grijalba, founder and CEO of 50Pro, a company dedicated to training senior entrepreneurs; and Hernán Lucero, an Argentine entrepreneur who has opened a food product export company in Madrid, have tried to identify some of the most common mistakes when starting a business, as well as offering advice to attendees.

Finally, Hernán Lucero focused on his own experience as a foreign entrepreneur in the Community of Madrid. His company, Luna Ibérica, is dedicated to the export of food products, mainly olive oil. Lucero also highlighted the advantages he found in the Community of Madrid for entrepreneurship. “I had the choice between Madrid and Barcelona, and I finally opted for this region.” “Madrid offered me facilities, connectivity, and an environment that other regions did not offer.”

Facilitating the path to senior entrepreneurship is one of the commitments of the Madrid Region, through initiatives such as the creation and soon-to-be-launched center for senior entrepreneurship in Getafe, which aims to provide these entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to carry out their projects. This was highlighted by the Vice Minister of Economy and Employment, Daniel Rodríguez Asensio, who wanted to point out the great moment that the Madrid Region is experiencing in terms of attracting projects and entrepreneurship, as demonstrated by the announcement of the hosting of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in the city. A milestone that will bring more than 10,000 direct jobs.

Madrid Investors Lab, the forum created by Invest in Madrid, aims to be a meeting place for the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem to discuss and find avenues for joint collaboration. All with one goal: to continue creating companies, to continue growing, and to continue building the ecosystem.
